With the development in information and technology, internet and mobile based scams are a growing trend used by unsuspicious operators to defraud the public. These scams usually entice unsuspecting victims with valuable rewards in order to attain their personal information such as account and identification numbers.
The recent modus operandi was really alarming. The scammer used Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)’s letterhead and phone calls to lure victims. As a smart financial consumer, you must always be cautious. Protect your personal banking details and never reveal your PIN to anyone as neither BNM nor banking institution will ask those information over the phone or through emails.
