We refer to the letter to the editor titled “Clear air on charges” by Mr. Narinder Pal Singh dated 19 March 2010. Bank Negara Malaysia conducts on-going surveillance to ensure that fees and charges levied by financial institutions for their financial products and services are consistent with the fees and charges guiding principles, and that, excessive charges are not unreasonably imposed on customers.
21 Dec 2009 Credit card tax for existing users to start on anniversary date
Applicants issued with new credit and charge cards next year will have to pay the RM50 service tax upfront. For existing card holders, the charge will be imposed on the anniversary date of cards.
